Our Dogs

Our dogs are first our pets, and we keep a small number of dogs so we can spoil them with lots of love and attention. We’ve imported dogs from some of the top kennels in Europe, breeding with the goal of bettering the breed and furthering health and longevity. As such, we also do the following health testing:

OFA Hips and Elbows

PennHIP

DNA Profile, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1B), Bernese Mountain Dog Type, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I)

Cardiac Evaluation (OFA)

Eye Examination (OFA/CAER)

Bulochka (retired)

“Let’s Dance Montbright”

Bulochka, affectionately nicknamed “Bulka” or “Bulki,” is our import from Montbright Bernese in Ukraine. She is a beautiful example of the breed in temperament and conformation. A big sweetheart and loyal to her people, she loves to be close to her family and loves to go on walks and adventures in the outdoors. Both of her parents are multi-champion winners in Europe, and her siblings have achieved world titles as well. Most importantly, her pedigree shows great health and longevity for many generations.

Bulochka is enjoying retirement now, but we raised three of her puppies to add to our breeding program: Brookie, Brielle, and Bighorn.

Bulochka’s Pedigree:

Ch. Bourne

“Mike’s Uti Chris”

We imported Bourne from Mikes Uti Kennel, recognized as a top breeder in Hungary. Bourne did well in the show ring in Hungary, earning his baby champion title and best baby male. His siblings have also done well in the show ring, and has many champions in his pedigree. He is a giant teddy bear, very much a “velcro” Berner, he loves being with his people. He’s very gentle, which is great considering he weighs around 130 lbs. Loves going on hikes, car rides, playing “fetch”, and just chilling next to you. Bourne comes from a great, documented, healthy line, going back to the Van’t Stokerybos kennel and further- we’ve traced his pedigree back to some of the first Bernese in Switzerland in 1906.

Bourne’s Pedigree:

Brielle

“Back 40 Montana Kootenai Sunrise”

Brielle is our darling girl we kept back from our Bulochka and AKC Grand Champion Eli of Sparrow’s Nests Bernese. Brielle is sweet, happy, affectionate, wants to please, and has just the right amount of spunk! She’s very loyal to her people but also enjoys making new friends and is always up for an adventure! She reminds us a lot of her mom, Bulochka.

Brookie

“Back 40 Montana Aurora Borealis”

Brookie’s parents are our very own Bulochka and Champion Bourne, and she’s been with us her entire life. She’s super sweet, affectionate, wants to please, loyal to her people, and loves going on long walks in the woods! If we were to describe Brookie in one word it would be “love.” She is just full of love! We’ve enjoyed watching her grow and seeing both of her parents’ traits coming out in her personality!

Bighorn

“Back 40 Montana Big Horn Angler”

Bighorn is our handsome boy we raised from our beautiful Ukrainian import, Bulochka, and AKC Grand Champion Eli of Sparrow’s Nests Bernese. He shares a lot of traits with both of his parents, which we love! Bighorn loves just hanging close to his person and is super sweet!

Breezy

“Megy Un Passo Avanti”

Breezy is our darling girl from Serbia. She’s happiest when close to her person, is overflowing with love, and so affectionate!

Bryshka (retired)

“Millenium Star Sha-Miya”

Bryshka is our beautiful girl we imported from Millenium Star in Russia. She’s a fun dog, always looking to be the center of attention! She has lots of character and is a quick learner. Both of her parents are champions and Bryshka did well in the show ring in Russia also.

Brandi (retired)

“Back 40 Montana Brandywine”

Brandi (now retired) was the first Bernese Mountain Dog we added to our family. We raised her from a puppy, and she is the sweetest girl. She’s never met a stranger and is always up for an adventure. Brandi’s sire was imported as a puppy from Hungary, and his sire is a multi international champion. Brandi’s mom comes from European lines with great health and longevity as well, going back to the Van’t Maroyke kennel in Belgium, Codeli Girls in Czech Republic, Sennwarts in the Netherlands, and some German lines as well. Many dogs in her pedigree have lived til 9, 10, even 12 years old. Brandi is a great mama, and passes on her happy disposition to her puppies.
